Cabin in Garden Valley!

The Marti family rented a cabin for a few days after Christmas!!!!! It was sooooooo much fun, and there was soooooooooooo much snow!!!




The first night we opened up Christmas jammies from Grandma and Grandpa, then had a mini ping pong tournament..... I think Nat and Ryan took that one! and enjoyed each others company while we still had power!!!!! Cause that night about 11..... power went out!!!!!!!!!!! We later found out that some trees got to heavy with snow and fell on a bunch of power lines.... by the next day, about 8 thousand people didn't have power!









So while the power was out, we had fun outside in the daylight! We..., meaning me, Ryan, Alex, Jeff, and sometimes Ang, did P90X yoga..... the entire 90 min of it!!!! If you've ever done it, you know it's a very good work out! I haven't done it since nathan and I did P90X, and I was surprised that I am in better shape now then I was then:) But needless to say, my hamstrings were sore for 4 days, it really digs in them deep! AND...we got tons of snow, it snowed the whole time we were there!!!! The boys made a sledding track....including a jump, and we all took turns, then Jeff wanted a turn on the tube.Ryan told him to get a running start and jump onto the tube.... well he sure did and ..... BAM the tube bursted open!!!! It was pretty funny!!!

Here's a shot of the front of the cabin.. it was 3 stories high..... and we had a whole room and plenty of beds EXTRA.... nice.

The second day we were there, some cabin "maintainers" came and plowed the drive way for us so we could actually get to out cars.... it snowed a lot. You can see where thy stacked it all up on the side!

And we had to eat dinner that night by candle light!! None of us took showers, cause the water heaters were electric and we needed it to do the dishes.... by hand!!! Lorna did well with her head lamp! But Nathan really pulled through for us! Whipped out his 6 flashlights, emergency candles and matches, and his huge spotlight that lit up the entire room..... and many times tricked us all into thinking the power DID just come back on!:)

We went to a geothermally heated swimming pool with the kids.... they loved it!!! It was outside, so they jumped in the snow and back in the water. But it was the only place we got warm showers! :)

The flash worked on ours..... but on the above it kept trying to focus on all the steam..... so their's had no flash and didn't turn out very well.... this is on my water proof little purse camera:)

The little frogley family..... I didn't bring suits, so Nathan rented one, and Sienna and I just wore undies and and work out clothes and t-shirts..... you do what you gotta do.... it was a few days of finding other resources to fit your needs..... we all did pretty well:)

Then that night, we played our own made up game of encore.... it was very fun!!!!! We picked a word and each team had to sing a song that had that word in it! We did that for a few hours. The kids went to bed early.... cause it was dark:) And we were saving our big spot light to play games....... then at 11 pm..... the lights came back on!!!! We all doubled checked to make sure it wasn't Nathan messin' with us!! And then cheered and finished our movie that was still stuck in the DVD player from the night before when the power went out on us:) ..... OH ya, you might wonder how we ate, or stayed warm........... it would've been the trip from.... well you know where.... but we used the gas grill out on the patio to cook our food..... including ham, potatoes, veggies, eggs, lil' smokies, hot cocoa, and GOOD thing most the rooms had propane heaters on the walls, like little mini fire places.... or we would've frozen!!! So the power came on just in time for us to clean up the next morning and head out! It was soooo fun, and I'm so glad we got to go. We missed Emily and Ivan and their family..... as they were waiting..... still waiting... for this baby to COME OUT!!!
